Around about in Denmark we fight to make room for these refugees who come every week, there come up to 10.900 refugees every week.

Martin Damm himself said to politiken about the problem in Denmark.

-we try to find so many people who will open theirs door for refugees. I think the mission is so big that we try every one possibility.

New Residences don’t appear from nothing just because more refugees arrive, Martin Damm, who is also mayor in Kalundborg, says to Politiken.

Martin Damm also said to Politiken, that they can help Danish people with rent, with you invite refugees in to your home and give them a home. You will receive financial support from local authorities.

-For A person would get 2,100 kr municipality would pay for your rent, but if you take a family in with father mother and child can get up to 4,500kr by the local paying your rent.

When Denmark is divided in two poles

On one hand, there is the Christiansborg politicians who have made the growing number of asylum seekers one of the upcoming election campaign’s hottest potatoes. This has launched a competition to see who can be the toughest of all restricters.

On the other hand, there are the Danes. They know that many refugees may present challenges, but at the same time they can also raise the flags on Ærø when 20 refugees arrive from Eritrea on a blue bus with the ferry.

At the same time, they can start a fundraising of reusable clothing in Rønnede. And meanwhile they can, in many communities, organize everything from sports activities to toy collections for the delight of the many refugee children.
